Nanette Blanchard "Nan" Obituary

Nanette J. Blanchard "Nan" of Bayfield passed away at home on Monday, December 22, 2025. She was 67.
Nan was the daughter of Marjorie (Stafford) Durso) of Naperville, IL and Anthony Durso of Naples, FL, both of whom preceded her in death. A younger brother, Peter Durso, lives in Naperville IL. She is survived by her husband of 42 years (Bruce), sister and brother-in-laws Wendy and Tim Coppock of Lombard, IL, brother and sister-in-laws Brain and Gale Blanchard of Hagerstown, MD, brother-in-law Frank Blanchard and partner Mary Ryan of Naples, FL, and brothers-in-law David Blanchard and Matt Landavaso of Phoenix, AZ. She had eight nieces and nephews-in-law.
Nan was born in Oak Park, IL and grew up in Naperville, IL. After graduating high school, she attended Illinois State University majoring in French. She went on to earn a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation from Southern Illinois University. Moving to SW Colorado in 1984 she worked as a counselor at the old Community Hospital's Addictions Recovery Unit. Around that time she began freelance writing, which became her life's work. She was a published author of a vegetarian cookbook and numerous articles in major food magazines.
Nan was also a beautiful knitter, has several technical manuals published, and loved giving friends and family things she's knitted.
She'll be remembered for her lively and creative mind, her love of cooking and reading, and her wonderful laugh.
A celebration is being planned to be held at the family's home for friends and family.
