Mike was a very compassionate man-always a friend, a mentor for the young, and a storyteller. History, especially the expeditions of Lewis and Clark, was a type of storytelling, and he loved sharing that with everyone. Music, church choir and harmonica playing, were important elements in his life. And Mike was curious, a lifelong learner who asked others to explain/show what they knew and he didn´t. A very human person, whom I have been so privileged to know.

Mike was one of the kindest men I´ve ever met. He always had a smile for me and a twinkle in his eye. I am thinking of Sue and your family today as you start to heal with God´s grace.

I will remember Mike´s love of history-especially of the travels of Lewis and Clark-and how he generously shared his colorful stories with students and friends. A wonderful man who will be greatly missed. Sending love and sympathy to Sue and their family.

I´m so thankful to have known Mike and gotten to spend time around him my high school years. He was always sweet, kind and thoughtful. I have many fond memories of him. In fact, I used one of his lines on a young, dating couple in our church the other day. I said, a sweet gentleman in my church when I was growing up always told me "a handshake will do". I am sure he will be missed by many. Our prayers are with you all.
