Mary Pool Obituary

Durango resident Mary Lee Pool died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, in Durango. She was 81.

Mrs. Pool was born to John and Ann Castle on April 17, 1928, in Upland, Calif. After growing up there, she graduated

from Ontario High School in Ontario, Calif.

On Nov. 9, 1947, she married Richard Larry Pool in Upland.

Mrs. Pool later moved to Phoenix and then Durango, where she had lived for the last 20 years.

She worked in bookkeeping and retailing, most recently at La Plata Gifts at the DoubleTree Hotel.

Mrs. Pool enjoyed playing bridge and having dinner with friends. She loved flowers and gardening and also spent time

reading and working on crafts.

Mrs. Pool was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Richard Larry Pool; and son Larry Steven Pool.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Bates of Yucaipa, Calif; sister Ruth Ann Berry of Upland; and three

nephews.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at Hood Mortuary Chapel. Family and friends will

officiate.
