Mary Bates Obituary

Mary Janette Ross passed peacefully May 29th, 2023, at the age of 80.

Born 05/17/1943 to Paul and Mildred Bates in Limon, CO Mary grew up with her siblings Ernie and Wanita on the family's sheep and cattle ranch in eastern CO.

Mary married her high school sweetheart, Tom Ross on May 5th, 1962. Over their 61 years of marriage the couple moved and traveled a lot, but Mary would have followed Tom around the world if he asked... or at least the state of Colorado.

Mary is survived by her loving husband Tom, her siblings: Ernie (Carol) Bates and Wanita Lightsey, her children Ernie (Susan) Ross and Brenda (Rick) Shaw, her grandchildren James (Barbie) Ross, JD (Keleah) Jefcoat, Nikki (Jake) Smith and Becky (Terrel) Wells. Mary's grandkids were the light of her life... until she became a great grandma to 4 beautiful girls: Alexis Ross, Karley Jefcoat, and Kyndall and Laynee Wells.

Mary was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved her family immensely but her walk with God was second to none.

Other than her family and her relationship with God, Mary's passion was gardening and canning.

Memorial services will be held June 12th, 2023, at 1 PM at Browns Cremation and Funeral 904 N 7th St Grand Junction, CO 81501.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary's name to Hope West Hospice. https://www.hopewestco.org/donate/
