Mark Harnly Obituary

Mark Wayne Harnly, 63, died unexpectedly 5/6/20 at his home in Bayfield, Colorado of an aortic aneurysm. Mark was born 9/17/56 to Dick and Sheila Harnly in Houston Texas and soon moved to Durango. He grew up with one sister, Sue Harnly, and numerous four-legged furry siblings.

Mark worked in the auto service industry most of his life primarily involved in customer service of different types which he enjoyed so much.

Mark was a simple yet complex man whose true loves over his life included collecting music/albums, playing his flute/bass/other random instruments, riding motorcycles with friends, the Grateful Dead, cars, connecting with customers at work, geocaching, all things electronic, Little Molas Lake, his family and friends in both Colorado and Eugene, Oregon, the Oregon coast and so much more but possibly his favorite thing ever was to go to the Oregon Country Fair. 0CF brought him joy beyond belief and he was able to attend last summer's 50th anniversary which was a highlight of his life. His poor workmates had to listen to him talk about with OCF for months before he ventured out each year.

Mark is survived by his sister Sue Harnly of Oregon, his nieces Emma and Callie, and a beautiful circle of friends and family in both Durango and Eugene.

If you'd like to be in touch with Sue, please email her at [email protected]. She would love to hear from you.

No services are planned at this time but post Covid times we will have a gathering. In the meantime have a toast - here's to Mark!

Mark's generous and kind spirit will be remembered always. Mark we will see you at the OCF drum tower July 2021!

Good Parts Man at Dealership. Worked with him there & later in private biz. Was a go to source for the Bayfield SCCA races in Town. They were a boon to the community. Peace, Brother.

Mark was such a great guy. He was witty ,smart and caring. He also was a very private man and after decades of friendship I knew little about the inner Mark. He will be missed R.I.P. my friend. Steve Perkins
