Marc Archuleta Obituary

Arboles resident Marc Antonio Archuleta died of liver failure at Denver Health Medical Center on Monday, June 8, 2009. He was 42.Mr. Archuleta was born to Michael and Claudina (Candelaria) Archuleta in Grand Junction on Sept. 8, 1966.

He graduated from Las Animas High School in 1984.

While in high school, he was active in Future Business Leaders of America and the debate team. He received a number of honors at both the state and national levels. In his junior year of high school, Mr. Archuleta appeared in the National Registry of Who's Who Among American High Schools.

He attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, where he studied business administration.

After working at a law firm in Denver, he started waiting tables. His family said he discovered this to be his true calling.

Mr. Archuleta worked for numerous well-known restaurants in Denver, Seattle, San Francisco, New Orleans and Durango, where he work-ed at Steamwork's Brewing Co.

Mr. Archuleta is survived by his mother, Claudina Quintana, of Arboles; brothers Michael Archuleta of Arboles, Manuel Archuleta of Durango and Matthew Archuleta of Aspen Springs; one niece, one nephew and one great-nephew; and an aunt.

Cremation has occurred.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Hall in Pagosa Springs.
