Lourae Boughan Obituary

Durango native Lourae Boughan died on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, in Grand Junction. She was 72.

Mrs. Boughan was born to Gilbert and Lena (Tulio) Koon on July 1, 1938, in Durango. Her aunt and uncle Toni and Jerry Dalla raised her, and she spent her childhood in Durango, graduating from Durango High School.

On Sept. 11, 1959, she married Eldon Boughan in Durango. Mrs. Boughan was a homemaker, and the Boughan family lived in the same house in Durango until they moved to Grand Junction 13 years ago.

Mrs. Boughan was an active member of St. Columba Parish and volunteered for the rodeo and Durango Fiesta Days for many years.

She was a member of Westgate Free Will Baptist Church in Grand Junction.

Mrs. Boughan is survived by her husband of 51 years, Eldon Boughan, of Grand Junction; stepmother, Betty Koon, of Tennessee; daughters, Deann Sanchez of Durango and Kristie Boughan and Stacie Young, both of Grand Junction; son, Adam Boughan, of Grand Junction; brothers, Jake Dalla and Orion Koon, both of Durango, Billy Koon of California and Rory Koon of Tennessee; sisters Mary Lynn Dalla of Loma and Patricia Griebe of Tennessee; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Westgate Free Will Baptist Church, 543 31 Road in Grand Junction. The Rev. Travis Shuck will officiate. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Durango.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Rescue Mission of Grand Junction, 550 South Ave., Grand Junction, CO 81501.
