Leah Schuster Obituary

Leah C. Schuster was born April 29, 1929 in Archibald, Ohio and died on April 1, 2023 in Durango, Colorado at the age of 93. She was known as "Lee" by her friends and her community. She was a true Colorado woman with an amazing spirit, and a devout belief in God. She lived her life according to principles of Love, Honesty, Compassion, and Understanding.

When Lee decided to adopt a child in 1961, it turned out they were twins. Her heart was so big she said "We must take them both together". So instead of the one child she expected, she chose to take two and was a wonderful mother to them both. Lee lived her whole life with a generosity of spirit that remains a great example to all of us, to live our lives well and walk in the path of faith and Christ's teachings. She always brought enough to every potluck to feed 20 or more. With her death, we, her family have lost our Guardian Angel.

Lee Graduated with a master's degree from the Taylor University Christian College in library sciences. She worked 36 years as a librarian guiding and helping people in their quest for knowledge. Her hobbies included sewing and she was a wonderful quilter. Her art is beautiful and is hung on walls. She also made many quilts and baby quilts that she gifted to her friends and community. We are all saddened by the loss in our world of this wonderful woman. It is a loss to us but she is a great gift to God's Kingdom. A plaque on her wall describes her well "The Will of God will never lead you where the Grace of God cannot Keep You."

I hope each and every one of us will learn from the example that Lee placed before us. She will always be held in the loving memory of those who knew her. She will be missed.

Lee is survived by her adopted son Kurt Richard Schuster. She is also survived by grandson, Nathaniel Martin "Nathan" Schuster of Calhoun, Georgia, and great-granddaughter, Charleigh. She is preceded by her adopted son Eric M. Schuster, Kurt's twin brother.

A Memorial Service will be held April 14th, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Parkside Baptist Church, 1715 West 2nd Avenue Durango, Colorado 81301.

Leah was a very good friend of my mother, Donna Hellwig. They worked together in the school library at the Annex in Leadville. Leah was a quilting mentor, and a travel buddy for educational trips or extended bicycle excursions. Their friendship lasted until my mom passed in 2018. I am happy they are visiting with each other now in eternity. Se

Worked at the Library in Leadville Colorado with Mrs Schuster for a few years !!! She was a very special person and a great boss .. the students loved her.. I actually babysat her boys a few times when her and her husband would attend functions in the community and school activities ... she would tell me "when they take a bath remind them to be sure to use the soap !! " after I had children of my own I understood why she told me that !!! The world will miss this wonderful lady !!! R I P my friend !!!
