Kevin Corcoran Obituary

Former city of Durango employee Kevin M. Corcoran died Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at his Durango home. He was 64. The cause of death was not disclosed.

Mr. Corcoran was born to Tom and Martha Corcoran on Dec. 17, 1948, in Cincinnati. He was raised by John and Alice Hall in Waukegan, Ill., and lived there for most of his life, including graduating from Waukegan High School.

He enlisted in the Army as an aircraft engine mechanic during the Vietnam War and served several tours.

After his military service, Mr. Corcoran returned to Waukegan and began his family. He worked for Abbot Laboratories as a water specialist and holds a patent in his name. He moved from Waukegan to Florida and then to Texas.

On May 27, 1995, he married Tami L'aDnier in Plano, Texas. The family returned to Florida, eventually moving to Durango in 2005. Mr. Corcoran worked for the city as facility maintenance for Durango Public Library. He retired in 2011.

Mr. Corcoran loved his family and his wife very much, his family said. He was known for his humor and sarcastic personality, but he also was a generous, selfless giver, they said. He was an active attendee of the Durango Cowboy Church, and was an outspoken critic of the pastor – in love and fellowship, the family said.

Mr. Corcoran is survived by his wife, Tami Parrish L'aDnier of Durango; sons Charlie Corcoran and Christian L'aDnier of Durango; daughters Jeni Hansen of Round Lake, Ill., Alicia Corcoran of Antioch, Ill., Sonya Thompson of Spring Hill, Fla., and Kaci L'aDnier of Durango; mother, Martha Hornbecker of Surprise, Ariz.; brother, Tom Corcoran of Washington, D.C.; sisters Mary Ondo of Waukegan, Ill., and Deborah Brummel of Kingsport, Tenn; and 11 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Durango Cowboy Church, 2601 25th St., in Durango. The Rev. Stan Formby will officiate.
