Kenneth Hensley Obituary

Kenneth "Al" Hensley, 83, of Arroyo Grande, California passed away peacefully on May 13, 2023. He was born to Ken and Louise Hensley in Billings, Montana in 1940. Al grew up in Billings and graduated from Billings High School. Shortly after, he joined the Air Force, where he proudly served for four years. During that time he met and married his first wife, Donna Montonati (d. 2015). After his service in the Air Force, they moved to Durango, Colorado and welcomed two children.

In 1984 Al married his current wife of 39 years, Lori. Al saw Lori's child from a previous marriage as a son and raised him alongside the son they welcomed together. In 1997 they moved to Carbondale, Colorado where they lived the next 10 years. Al retired from the phone company in 1997 and they moved to Arroyo Grande to be near Lori's parents and to enjoy the California coast. Al continued to work in telecommunications until he totally retired in 2006. He loved playing golf, spending time with his family and living on the Central Coast.

Al is survived by his wife, Lori; children, Tami Hensley Jantz (Tim), Jeff Hensley (Laura), Randy Hensley and step-son Cory Scoggin (Sara); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brother, Charles Hensley. Al was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Louise, and his brother, Jim Hensley. At Al's request there will be a private celebration of life in the future at his favorite spot in Montana.

I worked with Al for many years in Durango with the phone company. He was an awesome guy and fun to be around. He will be greatly missed.

May the love that comes from the memories of your dearly departed comfort you now and in the days ahead. As you go through this difficult time, may this Bible verse bring you comfort at Isa. 41:10 "Do not be afraid, for I am with you. do not be anxious, for I'm your God. I will fortify you , yes I will help you and hold on to you with my right Hand"
I wish you peace and comfort as you grieve
