Keith Gonzalez Obituary

Keith Armando Gonzalez passed away on Colorado Springs after a short illness on August 6, 2022, just a couple weeks short of his 62nd birthday.

Keith was born on August 19, 1960, in East Islip, NY, to Bernice Faith Gonzalez(nee Duncan) and Armando Joseph Gonzalez. Keith graduated from Herndon High School in Herndon, VA, going on to serve in the United States Navy. After the Navy, he worked on long-line fishing boats in the Gulf of Mexico, eventually landing in Durango, CO. After a serious accident which left him partially disabled, Keith spent much of his time advocating for persons with disabilities, first with the Southwest Center for Independence and later on his own, targeting wheelchair access and homelessness.

He also co-owned the Kickstand Cafe in Bayfield with his partner, Patrick Kirkpatrick and his own business, Armando Photography. He retired after suffering serious medical issues in the early 2000's. He loved to play his guitar, spending much time on his songwriting. His love of animals was extraordinary, ranging from pigs, lambs, dogs, and cats. He leaves behind Rusty, Buddy, and NuNu, all of whom will miss him.

Keith is survived by his partner, Patrick Kirkpatrick, his father, Joseph Gonzalez, his sisters Karen Gonzalez and Catherine Gonzalez-Herlocker (Nathan) and brother Andrew Gonzalez. He was predeceased by his mother Bernice Gonzalez and his brother Ken Gonzalez.

Keith will continue his journey high in the heavens where all the souls gather, playing out all his dreams, loves, joys and ambitions until the end of time. God rest his soul.
