Kathryn Hartt Obituary

Former Durango resident Kathryn Hartt died Wednesday, June 13, 2012, in Sun City, Ariz. She was 75.

Known as "Kay," she was born to George and Elvina Stoddard on Feb. 17, 1937, in Denver.

In 1958, she married John W. Thompson in Denver. The marriage later ended in divorce.

Mrs. Hartt worked as a clerk/typist for the city and county of Denver for more than 10 years before moving to Durango in 1980. She owned a ceramics shop on Colorado Highway 3 for many years where the Café of Life is now located.

Mrs. Hartt judged the ceramics categories at the La Plata County Fair. She also taught tole painting and how to make porcelain dolls.

She moved to Sun City in 2011.

Mrs. Hartt is survived by her daughter, Sharon Tailor of Idaho Falls, Idaho; son, Rusty Thompson, of Arvada; sister, Sharon Wilson, of Denver and Arizona; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Her body was donated to the Biological Resource Center in Phoenix. No services are planned.
