I knew Kathy 40 some years. Lots of parties when we were younger. Visited her in Durango a couple of years ago. I am so sorry for your loss.

Katie was so vibrant and full of life. In the short time I knew her, I don't think any visit was ever the same. And the variety. Rafting, lunch, Vallicito, garage sale run by friends, coming from an art class, (I love her Iris painting and how she painted it), rigging up her dvd to play, being pulled down to a parade, (Durango Pride Festival where I was led out on the floor to dance with all).

Wherever Katie went she would engage with strangers, (amazing to watch). She had friends that spanned decades in ages. She emphasized "friends" to me, yet when I would skip a week she would say "where were you?", (I think she did this to many of her friends to make them feel welcome and was part of Katie's charm).

Even though she was often tired she still worked, taking care of others. She cooked supremely and made sure a lady in her apartment got some good cooking. She seemed to always be helping others. She even tried to help me, (even though I didn't think I needed help), by giving me pointers on how to be more attractive to women.

I think what made Katie fun, enlightening and delightful, to be with, (and she would emphasize the word fun), was that despite the short end of the stick she had, she didn't let things pull her down. If things got too morose, she would say "change of subject", and things would lighten up markedly.

Such an inspiring, caring, beautiful person. I feel privileged to have experienced some of the light that was Katie.

What an inspiration Katie was!! Her career as a caregiver will continue to inspire me in my work. "Life is too short," she said. Unfortunately her life wasn't long enough. My Love, AnnieOlga Johnson

I went to Bergan High School in Fremont NE with Kathy, she was in my class. It was so sad to hear of her passing. She was always fun and smiling, and very friendly. May God give you peace in this time of loss. Kathy will be remembered by me, and I will pray for her and her family.

I am so sorry for the family's loss. She always had a kind word, worked with her years ago and always enjoyed talking with her when we would "run into" each other at the grocery store....I will miss her.

We had the pleasure of meeting and riding the gondola with her that day in Telluride that same day. My daughter fell in love with her and didnt want to leave her right after meeting her. My daughter's name is Ava just like her granddaughter she told us. Im so sorry for your loss, your family is in our prayers.
