Karen Mars Obituary

We have lost a beautiful soul. Karen Mars passed on June 7, 2015 at age 64. Karen is preceded in death by her father, D.K. Faulkner and loving husband Cecil Mars. She is survived by her mother, Iva Faulkner and three cherished sisters Virginia Clark, Joyce Faulkner, and Shirley Mallard; four loving children Shaun Mars, LouAnn Taylor, Kelly Gardner, and Jessica Mars; six special grandchildren, Jade, Ian, Lorna and Angus Taylor, and Mackenzie and Gabrielle Gardner; and beloved great-grandchild Myla Jones. Karen is also survived by her loving partner Richard Morton.

Karen spent her life in joyful service to her family and friends. She was known for her easy, beautiful smile and warm, authentic laughter; many will remember the kindness behind them, as she was so giving with both. She was a loyal and supportive daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend who created an environment that embodied unconditional love and positive regard for anyone who came into her life. Karen had many talents and hobbies. She crafted beautiful jewelry, created skilled sewing projects, kept a gorgeous flower garden, and her cooking/baking was second to none. Even as adults her children could count on getting one of her special chocolate birthday cakes! Karen had a special place in her heart for her animals. She loved her horses, ducks, pigs and especially her dogs. Her animal friends were treated with the same special and devoted love as her human friends were. Karen was a long-time member of Betta Sigma Phi and the sisterhood she gained from them was constant and true and one she cherished. Karen will be deeply missed by many.

Karen's Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 15, 2015 at Pine River Senior Center in Bayfield at 5:30 pm. In memory of Karen's love for gardening we ask that in lieu of cut/arranged flowers anyone wishing to, sends potted/hanging flowers and plants for family to enjoy after the memorial service.
