Julie Hernandez Obituary

Durango resident Julie Ann Hernandez died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Mercy Regional Medical Center. She was 51. The

cause of death was not disclosed.

Mrs. Hernandez was born to Della Duran and Joe Miera on June 13, 1958, at Mercy Hospital in Durango. She attended

Durango High School.

In December 1995, she married Angel Hernandez in Las Vegas.

While working as a flagger for Alert Traffic Control, Mrs. Hernandez also loved spending time with her children.

“Julie was a devoted daughter and was committed to taking care of her mother," her family wrote. “She was also an

adventurous spirit who enjoyed outdoor activities such as tubing the Animas, horseback riding and having no fear of

exploring with her family."

She was a baptized member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Mrs. Hernandez is survived by her husband of 14 years, Angel Hernandez, of Durango; son, Celistino Hernandez, of

Durango; daughter, Yairisa Hernandez, of Durango; sisters Barbara Callahan of Las Vegas and Veronica Miera; brothers

Orlando Miera, Chris Moreno and Roland Miera, all of Durango, and Robert Miera of Fort Collins; mother, Della Moreno,

of Durango; father, Joe Miera, of Alamosa; stepfather, Ruben Moreno, of Cortez; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces,

nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at

11 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
