Joyce Craig Obituary

Longtime Florida Mesa resident Joyce Pauline Craig died of congestive heart failure on Saturday, May 23, 2009. She was 81.

Mrs. Craig was born to Paul and Irene Rea in Durango on April 24, 1928.

In July 1946, she married Perry Craig after graduating from Durango High School.

The couple raised three children on the Craig family ranch.

Her family said Mrs. Craig was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a homemaker, seamstress and gardener. She enjoyed riding horseback, skiing and being a 4-H Club leader helping teach young girls to sew.

Mrs. Craig was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Perry Craig; and son Troy Craig.

She is survived by her son, Joel Craig, of Durango; daughter, LaRea Dell Craig, of Durango; sister, Virginia Snodgrass, of Springdale, Ark.; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2009, at Hood Mortuary Chapel.
