Wow, I have never met him. But he sounds like a wonderful man who really accomplished some critical things in the AIDS/HIV community. May he Rest In Peace. My thoughts are with the friends and family

My partner was one of his first patients at a time when gay people faced so much discrimination and prejudice. He passed away a year later, but we were so grateful for his compassion and openness. I send my condolences to his family and friends, my thoughts and prayers are with them at this time.

Thank you for your groundbreaking and compassionate care of gay people. I received treatment that saved my life 20 years ago. I'll never forget his generosity and kindness, he will be greatly missed.

He gave me hope when I was diagnosed with AIDS, it was a miracle to have hope again. I send my heartfelt condolences to his loving family and many friends. May God comfort and console you during this especially sad time . He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

As a person LIVING with AIDS , I can't tell you how grateful I am to those who worked hard to save me , and others LIVING with AIDS .
I was diagnosed with full blown AIDS in 1995 , given 3 months to live , and with the Protease Inhibitors and the hard work and science behind them , here I am . Thank you Joseph Sonnabend for my life, and for everything .

What an compassionate doctor. It’s hard to find them these days. We pray that God continues to strengthen and comfort his family and friends during this extremely difficult time.
