Better known as "Ted"

Born August 17, 1938 in Montrose, CO to John H. "Jack" Vickers and Jean McCloughan

Passed away December 5, 2017 in Aztec, NM

Ted was named "Very Devil" from the Gunnison High School class of 1956. He enlisted to serve his country during the Korean War in two branches of the military; The U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. He was a firm lover of his country, family, and God.

He met his beloved wife; Lonna Kay Roberts in his hometown of Lake City, CO. Ted and Kay were married on November 13, 1960. The couple became parents to three beautiful daughters; in order from oldest to youngest: Vicky Ann Wancura, Jonna Kay Vickers, and Tammy Jean Vickers. Ted was blessed with five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Ted was also survived by his brothers, Lester Vickers and Joseph Vickers, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kay, his sister, Sally Vickers, and his parents.

Ted was a hard-working man known for his dedication and commitment to anything he set his mind to. He began working for the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) in 1962, until he retired in 1997. He also worked for Vickers Fencing Company. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, The Elks Lodge, and served as a member of the Animas La Plata Water Conservancy District Board of Directors. He was an avid golfer at Hillcrest Golf Course.

Ted's top priority was family; he always kept his door open and welcome to all. He instilled his values of love and devotion to each and every one of his children and grandchildren. Without him, family would not have the same meaning; he was the most generous, caring person to everyone he knew. Jon is dearly loved and missed by all of those touched by his gracious spirit. We are blessed to have known such an amazing man.
