John Timm Obituary

John W. (Jerry) Timm, 78 passed away in Escondido California on June 19th 2015 at Palomar Hospital surrounded by members of his family. He had been in failing health for several months, however his death was unexpected. After suffering a fall at home, it is presumed by the doctor that he had a blood clot which moved into his lungs.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janet (Scott) Timm; his sons John Timm and Jay Timm of Durango, his daughter Judie (Timm) Wilson of Escondido, seven grandchildren, five great grand children, extended family, and many close friends.

Born in Colorado and raised in Durango; the son of Henry and Ellen Timm. He graduated from Durango High in 1955 and went to Fort Lewis Collage prior to joining the Navy. After serving four years in the service he and his wife returned to Durango to live and raised their family. Jerry went on to work for AT&T Long Lines throughout Southern Colorado before being transferred to San Bernardino California in 1984. After twenty six years with AT&T, he retired in 1989. He then began a second career working for the County of San Bernardino where he worked for another ten years before finally retiring. During the next fifteen years half of each year was spent out on the road traveling the North American Continent in a fifth wheel trailer and the other half of the time was spent in Escondido for the holidays.

Jerry had a passion for amateur radio and was a long time member of AARL. He had a love for technology and was always looking for the newest gadget. He was also a life time member of the Durango BPOE lodge 507. Throughout his life he had a passion for the outdoors, seeing new places, and meeting new people. Jerry was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church while in Durango and continued that relationship on the road visiting other congregations throughout the country.

No funeral services will be held at the request of Mr. Timm. Since Jerry donated his body for research at Loma Linda University School of Medicine only an informally gathering on August 7th at 11:00 a.m. will be held at Greenmount Cemetery where a stone will be placed in the family plot.
