John Campbell Obituary

John Edward Campbell, 74, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 28th at 2:25am in Scottsdale, AZ, after complications from surgery. John Campbell was a father, a husband, a friend, and such a good man-but above all he was so loved. John was known for his laughter, his generosity, and how much he loved his children.

Born in Beaumont, TX on November 5th, 1943 to Arthur W. Campbell and Mamie Puccio Campbell, John had an appetite for life. An avid golfer (and mini-golfer), he happily lived in Durango for over 45 years, and worked at Mercy Medical Center for 32 years as a pharmacist. While he competitively skied, played tennis, racquetball and host of other sports, his happiness was measured by the time he spent with his family (and hotel soaps). Often sporting a purple fanny pack and a baseball cap on family trips, he always knew just the right thing to say for a giggle. He was known for his creative score-keeping in games and he gave the absolute best hugs. Like his father, he carried around dog biscuits (just in case there was a dog in need) and copious amounts of napkins.

His family-Dee Campbell (his wife of 37 years), Don Arego (his best friend of 50 years), his son Erik Beard, his daughters Dawn Campbell Lobenstein and Sunni Campbell, Jessica Obleton (who was like a daughter to him), Brian Lobenstein (who was like a son to him), Christy Beard (daughter-in-law), and his grandchildren (Kiley & Kaden Beard)-will celebrate his life and memory always. Instead of holding a formal service, the family will celebrate together the places, spaces and activities that John loved. And they will always be grateful for the time they had. He will be missed.

His family asks that you fondly remember John with a toast or good meal (because that's what he would have wanted), or send donations in John's name to First Tee Phoenix, an organization that introduces golf to young people, or the Humane Society, where The Campbells adopted one of their favorite dogs.
