I am a member of The Wonders singing group we formed in college at Central Michigan University. Members of the group were Dan Schrock, Bob Redmond, John Allison and me.
John was the musician of the group. He could play anything he heard. He made that banjo talk. I lost track of John after college and failed at attempts to locate him several times. John was a quality person who had an easy way about him. I miss him and was shocked to learn of his passing from Dan Schrock. One of my sons attended university of Colorado and lived in various cities in Colorado and as a result spent some time in the state. I wish I had known John was so close. John looks the same from his photo used in the obit. The only thing missing are his glasses. I will miss him and my sympathies to the family. If any members of the family read this please contact me at the following as I am working on a book about the Wanders.

I lost touch with John in 1960, Seems like he went to work for YMCA in Detroit area? Anyway he was a founding member of the singing group The Wanderers during my freshman year at CMU. John, the banjo player was clearly the leader and members then were John, Ken Rogers, Bob Redman and myself. We packed a lifetime of music and memories into two short years. Our Friday's at the Swinging Bridge and other notable locations stellar!
I always missed him and wished that I could have maintained contact. He was a notable friend that I missed during my life and career and I know he would have given me friendship and knowledge.
I wish the very best for his family and want them to know that he was an impactful force on my life. I don't know the history of his life but I suspect he was admired and loved.
