Jim Lawson Obituary

Jimmie (Jim) Lester Lawson, 69, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of February 9, 2023, in Durango, Colorado, following a long battle with heart failure. Jim was born in Charleston, SC, and grew up in Albuquerque. After coming to Durango on a ski trip, he decided to move there the following week. Jim was a great mechanic and plumber. He had a love for fixing anything he set his mind to. He is survived by his son, Cory (Dawnmarie) Lawson of Durango, Co, Siblings Pat (Michaele) of Phoenix, AZ, Dale (Laura) of Las Cruces, NM, Steve (Jeannie) of White Hall, IL, as well as his beloved Niece and Granddaughters. Jim will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, fishing and hunting. A private memorial is planned at the Navajo Lake Reservoir in New Mexico where he spent many happy, carefree days camping with family and friends.
