Jessica Lucero Obituary

Jessica Chance Lucero, 31, of Rio Rancho, NM passed away on January 27, 2021 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born July 26, 1989 in Farmington, NM to Jose Delfin and Margaret Ascension (Munoz) Lucero.

Jessica attended the Farmington municipal school district and received her high school diploma in 2006. She attended San Juan College in Farmington, NM and began her medical career as a CNA at San Juan Regional Medical Center. She later moved to Albuquerque, NM in pursuit of a higher education and to reach her ultimate goal of becoming a nurse anesthetist. Jessica also had the pleasure of working alongside people who ultimately became incredible friends to her at SolutionWerx Inc., a software consulting firm. During this time she earned her associates degree from Central New Mexico Community College as she became a busy mother of three. Her children, whom she loved dearly, Matthew Delfin Maestas, Jerzi Monroe Casaus, and Izrael Cruz Casaus kept her busy with school activities, wrestling matches, and cheer practices and she loved every minute of it.

Jessica had a colorful life. She was genuine, loving, kind, and loyal. Her personalIty was contagious and her smile infectious.

She relished her role as aunt in hopes that she always made her nieces and nephews feel safe to come to her for advice. Jessica also enjoyed the honor of being the godmother to Mariah Baker, Abraham Jurado and Zoe Turner.

Jessica was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Arnoldo J. and Phyllis E. Lucero, maternal grandfather, Abenicio P. Munoz, uncles, Thomas Lucero and Dennis Lucero, brother Christopher N. Lucero, and a very notable friend, Mr. George Longmire.

Left with years of fond and special memories is her grandmother, Romela Munoz. She will be dearly missed by her children, parents, sister, Shantelle (Lucero) Rojo, brothers: Jose D. Lucero Jr., Michael Lucero and Martin Lucero, sister-in-law, LeAndra Tafoya and her many family members and friends.

Services will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Ignacio, CO on Saturday, June 26, 2021. Rosary at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. Internment to follow at Allison-Tiffany Cemetery.

Jessica was my best friend. I have always admired her strength and the faith she carried with her demeanor. She was a very intelligent, caring soul. Her lack of presence leaves a huge hole in my universe. I love you Jess. I miss you every single day.
