Jerry McKenzie Obituary

Jerry McKenzie was born in Durango at the old Mercy Hospital to Alma and Merritt McKenzie on April 14, 1937. He died on March 15, 2024 in Denver at the age of 86. Jerry attended school in Durango and graduated from DHS in 1955. He was awarded the Boettcher Scholarship. Jerry attended Western State College in Gunnison and graduated from Colorado State College in Greeley. After graduating in 1962 from Nashotah House Theological Seminary in Wisconsin, he returned to Colorado and served as an Episcopal priest in a number of churches. Later as an active board member of the Galloping Goose Historical Society of Dolores, he was able to dedicate much of his time to Goose No. 5. Jerry is survived by his sisters Julie Campbell of Alamosa and Kathy McKenzie of Durango, several nieces and a nephew plus his longtime friend and caregiver Noah Yoshino of Littleton. A mass and funeral were held in Denver on April 13, 2024.
