Jerry Kaye Obituary

Jerry Kaye passed away August 22, 2016 at the age of 83, surrounded by family and loved ones at his home in San Miguel de Allende Mexico. He was born July 31, 1933 to Sol Kaye and Rosella Meral in Detroit, MI.

Jerry had many passions through life including bronc riding but it was his love of skiing and the mountains that brought he and his young family to the foothills of Colorado in 1975 and then to Durango in 1989.

Throughout life he had opportunity to enjoy careers in many different industries including wholesale groceries, solar, oil and gas, computers and insurance. He was a volunteer firefighter and EMT for many years. Jerry retired to San Miguel de Allende Mexico in 2007.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Stanla Kaye in 2006 and is survived by his sons Jason Kaye of Durango, CO and Doran Kaye of Thornton, CO. his partner Chic Katherman of San Miguel de Allende Mexico. Brother Robert (Lisa) Gittleman, Sisters Sybil Gittleman and Lana (Barry) Mentzel and many nieces and nephews of Detroit, MI. Sister in-law Deirdre Janus and Mother and Father in-law Ann and Stanley Janus of Phoenix, AZ.

Cremation has occurred and no services will be held.

The family asks that donations be made to the Salvation Army in his name in lieu of flowers or cards.
