Jennie Bottoms Obituary

Jennie Lynn Bottoms, 64, passed away in Bloomfield, NM, on November 13, 2025. Jennie grew up in Durango and spent a lot of time riding with her dad Duane to Purgatory to ski and have fun with her brothers. She attended Durango High School, graduating in 1979. During that time, she worked at Wilderness Trails Dude Ranch. She learned to drive a truck after graduating H.S, earning her Equipment Operator license from Pickens Tech. She hauled coal from Hesperus to Utah daily. She worked for Colorado Dept of Transportation; starting in Dove Creek and ending in Cascade. She worked with the Avalanche Rescue and Control Team in Durango. She moved to San Diego to help take of care her parents in 2000. While there she obtained a degree in Graphic Design and Digital Photography from Cuyamaca College. Jennie's beautiful art will continue to comfort us. Jennie continued to drive trucks while in California with Hanson Aggregates and San Diego County. After her mother Helen's death, Jen moved to Carson City, Nevada continuing her truck driving career. In June, 2024 Jennie moved to Bloomfield to be closer to home and start a much-needed retirement. Jennie is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Rick Bottoms. She is survived by brother Jay John Bottoms and his wife Susie. Jennie will be greatly missed - her light and love and laughter extinguished far too soon. We love you, Jen. Services are planned for August or September 2026. Jennie's cremains will be scattered in her beloved mountains around Durango.
