Jason Holley Obituary

The body of Jason Carl Holley, 22, was discovered in Cheyenne Canyon west of Colorado Springs on May 8, 2009. He had disappeared from his family home in Colorado Springs on Jan. 5, 2009. The cause of death was ruled to be homicide by the coroner. Two men have been arrested for the crime.

Mr. Holley was born to Mike and Jan Holley in Durango on Aug.  3, 1986. His family said he had Klinefelter syndrome, a chromosomal disorder, and had the mental capacity of a 12- to 14-year-old.

He grew up in Durango, but he and his mother moved to Colorado Springs in 2003, where Mr. Holley attended Pikes Peak Community College and was learning to be a car mechanic.

"I have never seen him so happy as when he comes home from school," his mother wrote on a Web site. "He talks about cars and takes pictures of the good ones on his cell phone to share with everyone. He was working on an old 1973 Dodge Dart in our garage, thinking he would fix it and sell it for money, even though he doesn't drive."

His family is inviting friends, neighbors and family to drop by during an open house from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009, at 370 East Third Ave.

Mr. Holley is survived by his parents Mike and Jan Holley of Colorado Springs; sibling, Nik Holley; and extended family members.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 14, 2009, at the Fort Lewis College Chapel, 1000 Rim Drive.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Knowledge, Support & Action, 11 Keats Court, Coto de Caza, CA 92679; the Kristen Foundation, which looks for missing at-risk adults, c/o Joan Petruski, 2330 Bonnie Butler Way, Charlotte, NC 28270; or the Jason Holley Donation Account at Wells Fargo Bank, all of which were instrumental in helping find Mr. Holley and bring him home.
