I think about Jack often for his diligence and dedication to his community. I got to watch him engage in wildfire preparedness efforts and guide us as a board member for FireWise of Southwest Colorado, now Wildfire Adapted Partnership. I'm sure there would have been many intriguing conversations with him in a year like 2020.

To the Cannon Family:
It was a true pleasure to know and work with Jack over the years. Our paths often crossed due to his duties as a FireWise Neighborhood Ambassador for Enchanted Forest Estates. He was a very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable person who always had time to say hello and visit. I looked forward to seeing him at meetings and events and catching up on things.
Please accept my sincere sympathy for your loss. He will certainly be missed by all.

Jack was such a neat individual! He was always willing and able to help out with projects as a Friend of the Bayfield Library; especially if it helprd children or community. He treasured
his family and especially his wife. La Plata County has suffered a great loss.

Among the first AmbassAmong friends who participated in first FireWise "Home Ignition Zone" workshop, Jack was in his life long learning happy place.

Dear Cannon Family and close Friends,
I got to work with Jack for several years with FireWise of Southwest Colorado. When I was pretty new, Jack came over to Cortez to help with a wildfire booth at Walmart. He enjoyed watching me try to do outreach with by two very young boys. He must have been an amazing Papa. Even though it was quite a haul from Enhanted Forest, I learned that this wasn't the first time that he'd stepped up to support wildfire education in the community, beyond his own neighborhood. I always enjoyed Jacks input, his bringing science to the forefront and his amazing smile never shadowed by his classy cap. At our last Council meeting when asked how he was doing, his "I'm still here" was almost as if he was ready to rest with Anna.
You will be missed and remembered by your FireWise friends, Jack!

I am sorry to hear of Jack's passing. I knew him through FireWise. He was very passionate about protecting his neighborhood from a devastating wildfire.
