J. Greer Obituary

James Patrick "Pat" Greer passed away October 16, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was born November 9, 1933, on the Greer Homestead near Marvel. Pat grew up, raised his family, and died from Cancer, NOT COVID, on the Greer Homestead.

Pat married Lila Eldridge February 1, 1953. They had four children: Harry (Cindy) Greer, Jim Greer, Frances (Dale) Horvath and Karen Ray. He has 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Pat was a true family man, with a great sense of humor and a real love for music. He was very community minded. Pat was a life-long member of Marvel Methodist Church as well as member of Marvel Grange, and a member and leader of 4-H for over 35 years. He also served on various board and commissions, including Animas La Plata Board, La Plata Water Conservancy District, La Plata County Fair Board and the La Plata County Planning Commission.

Services will be held Saturday, October 23, 10:00 a.m. at the Marvel Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Marvel Cemetery and a Potluck immediately following at the Marvel Grange.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Marvel Methodist Church, PO Box 122, Marvel, CO 81329. Pat lived his faith and will be greatly missed but never forgotten!

J. Pat Greer - what a man, indeed. I will miss him as will many others. It was an honor to have known him and rubbed shoulders - even a little. His humor, love of family, love of God, steadfast dedication to the community, mentoring, and just plain calm friendship to many speaks volumes about his truly wonderful and rich character.
To all his family ... thank you for sharing him. We all have been enriched through him.
Love you all and special hugs to all.
Tom Hartnett

Pat and Lila were two of the first people we were blessed to meet when we moved to Hesperus. It was in the Marvel Methodist Church where we met them along with several members of their family.
Pat was always available to visit and had a wonderful smile and great sense of humor. He will be missed by so many but we look forward to seeing him again. He was a man of God and we look forward to hearing more stories when we join him in heaven! Condolences to his entire family.
With much love and affection for you all,
Elaine Hartnett
