I remember all the McKnight boys in Cindi and Kyle's young family!!! Ian was just over a year old when Chris and my son, Spencer, was born in 1990. Ian was such a a cutie with that Shock of RED hair and his way of twisting out of his Mother's grasp and taking off on a fast run!!! We all shared many Ski Patrol parties, Snowdown Softball games and all kinds of Ski races at Purg and other resorts! The Lunar Cup above Telluride every July 4th was a great OLD Ski's race because of the exposed rocks and mud and just grass, too! I've been here for 40 years last year and do remember Ian so well as a baby and growing into a young man. I'm so sorry for your loss, Cindi and Kyle!!!

Ian had a heart of gold and was so encouraging as a coach to our son Donovan, a 10 year old ski racer. In Aspen just a few weeks ago, Donovan was discouraged despite feelkng good about his performance because he placed pretty low in the competition. Ian made it a point to seek him out and tell him that he is a strong skier and that his future is bright if he sticks with it. Although my interactions with Ian were limited, this exchange epitomizes what I know of him: encouraging and supportive and attuned and caring. I am so grateful for Ian's care on and off the slopes. My heart goes out to all that knew him and loved him, especially his family and the many young people who called him "coach." (here is a photo of Ian cleaning Donovan's skis prior to a race in Aspen)
