Coach Herman Boone reminds us all of the impact sports have on the culture. More importantly, he validates how one Coach can move a state, county, city and locale. The late Reverend Dr. Billy Graham once said, "A coach will impact more people in one year than the average person will in an entire lifetime." Such fitting words. America is better, The Commonwealth of Virginia is better, and The City of Alexandria, Virginia is better. Because of man refusing to accept the status quo of the day. Coach Herman Boone---RIP. Well done, Sir.

Herman Boone, care, kindness, and skill, has no doubt helped many students to achieve great heights that I am sure they would never have experienced without him. I really feel that coach's are a special breed. During this time of mourning, I would like to express my sincere condolence at the loss of your loved one and I pray everything is going as well as can be expected. May God comfort you at this time of sorrow and bless you through the days ahead. Our Father above loves us so much, and will never leave us to face this on our own, For all things you will have the strength by virtue of him who imparts power to you. (Philippians 4:13)

Dear Family, and Friends of Football Coach Mr. Herman Boone:
I am A Member of Sixth Grace Presbyterian Church, located at 600 East 35th Street, Chicago, Illinois 60616. I was baptized by The Late Reverend Dr. A. L. Reynolds, Sr. He was The Former Pastor of Sixth Grace Presbyterian Church. He also hired me in the year of 1983, to be The Church Secretary at Sixth Grace Presbyterian Church. He was a role model to me, and he will surely be missed by all the people who were impacted by not only His Ministry, but by his great singing voice. I was baptized in the year of 1977. I was about nineteen or twenty years old at the time.
The current Pastor, The Reverend Dr. David B. Thornton, whom I have never met is not only The Moderator of The Session, and The Head of The Staff, He is also my Mentor, Teacher, Confidante, and Spiritual Advisor. I heard that he has a great singing voice as well. He did perform some of The Late Mahalia Jackson"s songs in a Concert "The Good News Concert", which was held at my Church home. I did the "PUBLICITY" FOR THAT CONCERT.
I am also A Former Member of Church Musician Ship Guild, Inc. (1988-2008). The Late Dr. Mildred G. Lewis was The Founder, and Executive Director. I was their Administrative Assistant, Executive Secretary, and Public Relations Director. I have been doing Public Relations for about thirty one, going on thirty two years now.
One of my many finer moments being with the Guild was when I worked The Booth at The Black Expo in 1996, as well as Registered many People during many of our "Annual Conferences, Banquet, Seminars, Fashions, and Awards ofExcellence Ceremonies" which were held many times at The Congress Hotel in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Boone will be missed. He has left a great legacy. You all should be very proud of him. I will continue to keep you all in my prayers, especially during this difficult time. WITH MY HEARTFELT SYMPATHY, MS. VALINDA DARLENE JONES, OF CINCINNATI, OHIO. I USE TO LIVE IN THE BRONZEVILLE NEIGHBORHOOD OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS WITH MY MOTHER LOUISE WHO IS ELDERLY, AND MY THREE BROTHERS, STEVEN, KEVIN, AND LAMAR (NOW DECEASED). I DID HAVE TWO DOGS, WHOM I MISSED, A GIRL SHIH TZU NAMED MOPSIE (NOW DECEASED), AND A BOY COCKER SPANIEL/POODLE MIXED NAME LIL'MAN. I HOPE THAT HE IS DOING O.K. AND THAT HE IS ALIVE.

On behalf of the Campbell Family and our Beloved Julius #81,
We would like to extend our deepest condolences on the passing of your Beloved. We would like to thank you for sharing your Beloved with not only the City of Alexandria, T.C. Williams High School but, with the whole world.
I was first sadden by the news, then I began to smile. I began to think, Gerry Bertier #42 had been waiting, Wayne (Wool) Hilton #83 was waiting; Brad (Bubba) Smith #82 was waiting, Darryl (Blue) Stanton #80 was also waiting. Coach Yoast (Offensive Coach) had joined them and was waiting Julius (Big Ju) Campbell #81 had joined them and was waiting, then Petey Jones #40 join them and they were ready to play Football. Only one thing was missing their Defensive Coach. Coach Bone had no choice but to go they were all waiting for him. We dont know the names of all of the Titans who have passed on, those are just a few that we knew. We want to pay my respect to all of them and their families.
Giving thanks again to Mrs. Boone and the Boone Family, for sharing a Very Special Coach, Mentor, Man and Father.
Coach Boone is coaching his defensive and Coach Yoast is on offensive and theyre playing football In Heaven. Rest In Peace Coach, a Job Well Done!!
We will Always Remember the Titans
Sincerely,
The Campbell Family

I was very sad when i received information about Coach Boone passing. I wanted to play football at E. J. Hayes High School in 1964. I was very thin and was about 6 feet. Coach Boone looked me up and down and saved my life that day. He responded " son they will kill you ". He then without missing a beat asked me if I played basketball. I responded no sir. He said meet me in the gym after lunch. I went to the gym and he had a row of chairs lined up in the middle of the floor. He gave me a basketball and said I want you to dribble the ball in between the chairs. I had never done this before but he watched me trying to do this well. After about 20 minutes, he said I want you to try out for the JV team. I did, I played four years of basketball at E.J. Hayes High School and was MVP in my senior year. The story did not end there because Coach Boone got in touch with Coach Don Scalf at NC Wesleyan College ( 1968 ) told him about me and Coach Scalf came to my home and recruited me to play at the college level at Wesleyan in Rocky Mount. So thanks to Coach Boone, I was able to attend college by way of playing basketball which launched me into the graduate school at Howard University School Of Social Work. Thank you again Coach Boone for believing in me as an athlete but seeing the potential man that was developing then. From the class of 1968 until now, Coach Boone was and remains a part of who I have become. May he rest peace and Thanks again Coach. You were right, those football players would have killed me. Peace.

Rest in peace coach Boone. Condolences to your family and friends. You were one of the truly unique people who come along so infrequently. It was special knowing you and working with you at TC. In 1971 I was the football PA announcer and a fellow teacher. No movie could ever capture the real you and your legacy will live on with your players and friends.

From everyone at All American Games who worked with Coach Boone over the years on the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, we are greatly saddened by Coach's passing. Together with his partner Coach Yoast, they continued to help inspire and counsel an entire generation of great U.S. Army All-American football players, and we are thankful for their efforts.

I was saddened to hear of Coach Herman Boone's passing. But I am also happy that I had the opportunity to meet him in 1971! I vividly remember sitting in the back seat with another teammate Richard Griffin, of Coach William "Dick" Prices car as Coach Boone spoke with Coach Price about the T C Wiliams experience! We were there on a recruiting trip for Norfolk State Football Team. We had an opportunity to see the "Titans" win the game over Annandale H. S. with the triple-option veer! Little did we know that those precious moments that Coach Boone was experiencing would turn out to be Iconic and Impacting in the making of "Remember The Titans"! The Human Spirit to excel goes beyond what meets the eyes! Well done Coach, you have mentored, impacted, and united hearts forever! Take your Rest
To the family: May the Grace of the Lord JESUS CHRIS, and, the Love of GOD, the fellowship of the HOLY SPIRIT Strengthen, Keep, and Comfort you during difficult time!
