Helen Montonati Obituary

Helen Montonati left her earthly body on October 15, 2023. Helen is survived by her sisters, Betty Lou Wiebe, Wilma Piccoli, Barbara Benner, and Janet Hill and by 5 children, Reno, Joe, Concetta, John, and Elena Montonati. Helen has 16 grandchildren and a growing number of great-grandkids. Helen lived most of her life on the West Slope. Her favorite pastime was riding horses in the mountains around Silverton and Durango. She raised babies in a cabin in Rico and a little house with a coal stove in Silverton. Later she made her home and raised more kids in Montrose. Helen loved horses, the mountains, cooking delicious Italian meals and above all, she loved her kids and grandkids. She was dearly loved and will be missed. A memorial service will be held November 4 at the Montrose Christian Church at 11:00 am. A light lunch and reception will follow the service and all who knew Helen are welcome.

I was so very sorry to hear this! She and I grew up together! and Janet. Remember all of the times that I stayed with them in Gem Village and then when they would come to our ranch and stay with Betty Lou and Leonard. What great times we had.
