Harold Vigil Obituary

Former Ignacio resident Harold Allen Vigil Sr. died on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, in Dulce, N.M. He was 69.

Mr. Vigil was born to Frank and Alice Vigil in Dulce on Aug. 17, 1940. He spent a large part of his childhood in

Ignacio and attended Ignacio Elementary School.

He served in the Army.

Mr. Vigil was a silversmith and did some carpentry and a little bit of masonry. In addition to Ignacio and Dulce, he

lived in Phoenix, Chicago, California and on the Navajo Reservation in Shiprock, N.M.

When he was 20, he married Phyllis Charlie in New Mexico. She preceded him in death.

In the early 1970s, he married Maebell Cody in New Mexico. The marriage later ended in divorce.

Mr. Vigil enjoyed football and was a fan of the New England Patriots. He also enjoyed gaming at various casinos and

traveling.

Mr. Vigil is survived by his daughters Vickie Platero of Dulce, Victoria Sommerdorf of Jamestown, N.D., Veronica

Charleson of Story City, Iowa, Marcinda Lou McVaugh of Bend, Ore., and Henrietta J. Guilmette of West Bridgeport,

Vt.; son, Harold A. Vigil Jr., of Flagstaff, Ariz.; former spouse Maebell Cody of Lupp, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren;

several great-grandchildren; and extended family members.

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. today, Dec. 11, 2009, at Hood Mortuary Chapel. Deacon Larry Tucker will officiate.

Burial will take place at Greenmount Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Davita Durango Dialysis Center, 72 Suttle St., Durango, CO 81303.
