Gina Hampton Obituary

Gina Lou Hampton of Durango, CO passed away on Oct 20th, 2022, surrounded by her family, she was 69 years old.

Essential to Gina were her relationships with God and her family, which would also lead her to giving back. She grew up as a devoted girl scout and after graduating high school, she spent 2 months in Guatemala offering medical services to those in need. Gina attended Point Loma Nazarene University and majored in religion. While in college, she met a sailor and instantly fell in love. In 1975, Gina and Fred married, and traveled the country with the military. Together they raised 2 children: Fred and Angela.

Gina loved camping, boating, 4 wheeling, movies, and most of all, her grandchildren. She was a talented woman and could paint, play the guitar, piano and the accordion. She will mostly be remembered for her amazing friendly smile and caring soul.

Gina is survived by her husband Fred Hampton; children Fred (Sharon) Hampton Jr. and Angela (Bill) Brown; grandchildren: Jessey, Jacob, Dylan and Brooke Hampton; Cooper and Parker Brown; as well as being blessed with amazing siblings, nieces, nephews, and many cousins.

A graveside service will be held at Greenmount Cemetery, Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 1:00pm and immediately following, a Celebration of Life will be held at the VFW downstairs, 1550 Main Ave., Durango.

So very sorry for your loss. Gina was a beautiful soul. I don´t think I ever saw her that she didn´t have a smile and offer a hug of friendship. She was a gentle and kind soul. I was blessed to have known her.

Gina, you dear, dear soul ... you never once met a stranger, did you? Your kindness and goodness simply radiated from your being and warmed every room you entered. Fred, our deepest condolences to you, and to Fred and Angela, to your entire family, and to everyone in your wide circle of friends who have forever adored Gina. May all find a sense of peace and of ease and grace having been blessed by the radiance of Gina´s magnificent soul.
