Gina Cottom Obituary
Gina Dawn Cottom passed away with family around her in the early morning of January 14. Gina was an amazing woman with a heart of gold and a tremendous, courageous spirit. She had the most beautiful smile and brought warmth and happiness to everyone around her. She was an amazing culinary master who enjoyed making food for friends, family, the Durango School District students, and many others. Gina was the consummate professional in all her work in the foodservice/hospitality industry.
Gina grew up in Socorro, New Mexico. She loved to ski, hike, paddleboard, mountain bike, travel, and camp in the beautiful West - especially in Telluride and Durango/Bayfield areas. She loved sunsets, campfires, and lots of good music.
Gina is survived by her husband Joel, her sisters, nephews, a niece, and she recently became a great aunt. Most importantly, she is survived by her pride and joy, her son Xander.
Gina will be missed by her family and many, many friends. She touched so many hearts and brought happiness to the world that will not soon be forgotten.
A celebration service for Gina is TBD due to COVID risks.
In lieu of flowers, or to contribute to Gina's memory, an education fund has been set up for her beloved son Xander. They can be made through PAYPAL and ZELLE sending to email address: [email protected] (all one word, no dash or spaces).

My husband and I were so sorry to learn of Gina's passing. She will be missed by anyone who ever met her. She was such a joy to be around. She made every event better. Our deepest condolences to her family and friends.

Oh my gosh I am so very sorry. My condolences to Joel and Xander. I loved Gina! It´s been several years since we last ran into each other but it was always like no time had passed when I saw her! We worked together in a couple of Durango restaurants many years ago! Always happy, smiling, positive, fun to be around and she exuded great energy! I´m so so sad to hear she´s passed. Much love to her family and friends.

Oh Gina! Ugh, I'm so sad you are gone! We worked together for about 10 yrs and I just adore you...I ran into you on the plane just last summer in Phoenix! I know how much Xander and Joel meant to you and I will miss your smile and super cute laugh and tiny body! Until we meet again...

Gina was beautiful, full of energy, and everyone loved her. I grew up around the corner from her in Socorro. The Cottom girls were always so caring and talented. It was a blessing to have known Gina. Prayers for her family.

I have had Gina in my thoughts lately. I am so very heartbroken to hear about Gina's passing. I have so many amazing memories of her. She had such an amazing smile and huge heart. Loved her laugh and her energy. Rest in Peace my lovely friend.
