Geraldine Duffy Obituary
Geri was born in Chicago in 1932 and aside from her clinical practice and furthering her education her passion was taking a strong stance for social justice. Those that disagreed with her often received one hell of a verbal lashing.
Geri taught at three Universities and was a nurse for the Veterans Administration during the Vietnam War. Witnessing the horrors of war through her nursing she became highly opposed to all war and she never remained quiet about her feelings.
Aside from her political and social causes she had a passion for art, books, jazz and a special interest in the beauty of trees, small streams, photography and gentle souls. Geri is survived by her husband; Frank Duffy, her three children; Robin Duffy-Wirth, Brendan Duffy and Cory Duffy, and her three grandchildren; Kevin, Ryan and Shannon Wirth. Her oldest, Jon Duffy, passed away in 2010.
We, her family, were well aware of her volatile nature regarding things she was passionate about. She stood for what she believed in, expressed herself loudly and often, and there won't be a day that goes by that she won't be deeply missed.
The last 7 weeks of her life were spent with her family surrounding her with love and care. A very special thank you to Mercy Hospice, all of the wonderful neighbors in Forest Lakes and the love from our community that, we as a family, have received throughout.
