Georgia Patcheck Obituary

Georgia Ann Patcheck, peacefully left this world at the family ranch on December 24th, 2024, just

in time to join her Lord in heaven for Christmas. She will forever be remembered for her vibrant

spirit and unwavering love.

Born in Lubbock, Texas, Georgia spent her childhood summers in Cherry Creek, Colorado with her cousin Carolyn. It was there that she met Bob Patcheck, the handsome boy next door who would become the love of her life. At just 15, Georgia married Bob on December 4th, 1954. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and the weekly Sunday country-side drives. Bob passed away in 2000, but Georgia continued to carry their love story with her every day.

Georgia and Bob raised four children together, and despite the hecticness of motherhood with four children under the age of 12, she enrolled at Fort Lewis College, where she earned a degree in Elementary Education and thus her teaching career began. After all the children were raised and while still teaching, Georgia obtained a master's degree in education from Adams State University. Georgia spent over 40 years inspiring students across the Four Corners region with her combination of wisdom, kindness, and a touch of humor. After retiring (though retirement was never really in her nature), she continued to stay active by volunteering with Summit Church's College Youth Program, where her culinary skills kept the students coming back for more.

Georgia was many things to many people-a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, chef, and avid reader. Above all, she made everyone feel at home, whether it was through a home-cooked meal, a thoughtful conversation, or simply being present.

Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Georgia is now reunited with her beloved husband, Bob; her infant son, Scotty; her daughter, Cathie; her parents; and her sister. She leaves behind her three surviving children: Cindy (Reed), Robert (Renee) and Michael (Jodi). Georgia's legacy lives on through her nine grandchildren-Patrick, Kevin, Katie, Nona, Kenna, Jessi, Wyatt, Mitchell, and Baylen-and two great-grandchildren, Reese and Quinn. They will continue to carry forward her love of family, good food, and the joy of reading.

A celebration of Georgia's life will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 25th, 2025 at Summit

Church, 2917 Aspen Drive, Durango, Colorado.

Mrs. Patcheck was my 6th grade teacher at Escalante. We moved from Smiley to Escalante halfway through the year and she made that transition very easy on her student. I recall her warm and loving personality. She was an inspiration to her students; an inspiration that is memorable even 30 years later.

My sincere condolences to the Patcheck family. I had Mrs. Patcheck in middle school and remember her being the sweetest teacher to ever exist, I still remember the joke she told us about our rivalry middle school and laugh when I think about it. Rest easy Mrs. Patcheck.

I was privileged and honored to work with Georgia at Smiley Jr. High and Escalante Middle School. She was a dream to work with. She was always positive, upbeat and happy. She loved her students and was an exceptional teacher. I also counted her as a special friend. I know she is happy to be with Bob and her Lord and I look forward to seeing her again soon. My condolences to all the family. I know how you will miss her. Blessings to all.
