Gary Whatcott Obituary

Gary Daryl Whatcott died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, in Durango. The cause of death is pending.

He was 24.

Mr. Whatcott was born Nov. 13, 1985, in Mesa, Ariz., to Daryl Wayne and Catherine Lorrane Whatcott. In 1990, the family

moved to Colorado, where Mr. Whatcott attended school in Cortez. He excelled in football at Cortez High School. Mr.

Whatcott left school after his junior year to work with his father in the family business, La Plata Stucco.

Outdoor activities consumed a major portion of Mr. Whatcott's leisure hours. He loved fishing, golfing, hunting and

snowboarding. He especially enjoyed boating and water skiing with his family.

Mr. Whatcott is survived by his father, Daryl Wayne Whatcott of Durango; mother, Catherine Haney of Cortez; brother,

Kenneth Whatcott of Durango; and sisters Jessica Whatcott and Samantha Whatcott of Cortez.

Cremation occurred at Hood Mortuary Crematory in Durango. Memorial services were held Saturday.
