Gary Hoselton Obituary

Gary Glenn Hoselton was born February 19, 1943 and went to be with his Lord Jesus on February 24, 2022. Gary was born in Denver, CO to Glenn and Helen Hoselton as the oldest of what would be 12 children. He attended elementary school in Durango on the Florida Mesa. He attended junior high and high school in Durango and graduated high school in 1961. After high school he served in the United States Air Force. He was a jet engine mechanic working on B52 bombers and KC-135 refuelers and was primarily stationed at Ellsworth Air Force base in Rapid City, South Dakota. He married Jenny "Cookie" Norton on June 11, 1963 at the First Baptist Church in Durango. They were junior high sweethearts and she was the love of his life. After finishing in the Air Force they settled in Durango on the Florida Mesa. There they ran a farm and had 3 children, Traci, Rick, and Ron. He was the service manager at Pat Murphy Motors for 32 years and retired from there on December 30, 2005.

Gary's family was the most important to him and he loved them with all he had. He loved spending time hunting, camping, 4-wheeling and doing all things outdoors. He loved watching his grandkids and great grandkids grow up. He spent many hours hunting and hiking with them and sitting in lawn chairs and on bleachers watching all of their activities. He was a Godly man with a very strong faith. He served in the church in many different areas. He was a kind, genuine, honest man who was loved and respected by all who met him.

Gary was preceded in death by his mom and dad and his brother John. He is survived by his wife Cookie; his daughter Traci (Dutch) McKnight; son Rick (Stephanie) Hoselton; son Ron (Dawn) Hoselton; grandchildren Megan (Jarett) Stovall, Travis (Jamie) McKnight, Darren (Emily) Hoselton, Dillon Hoselton, Lacey Hoselton, and Chauncey Hoselton; and great grandchildren Paislee and Paxton Stovall; Jeremiah, Isaiah, and Abigail McKnight; and Kinsey Hoselton; siblings Judy (Bill) Black, Janie (Ed) Wilson, Debbie (Jim) McVean, Darla (Dean) Hill, Doug (Shelley) Hoselton, Trudy Logan, Eva (Ray) Moreland, Lorie (Dennis) Larson, Carrie (Jerry) Martinez, Jim (Sandi) Hoselton; many nieces and nephews; the Funkhouser family and numerous other close friends.

I am so sorry to hear of Gary's passing. He was such a guiding father figure in my childhood. It was a blessing to have grown up with him in the 'village' that raised me. May God bless and hold your family through your sorrow.

Good man, Gary. Years ago our offices were right across the street and we chatted almost every day He was ever upbeat and personable, showed kindness and sincere concern for everyone whose path crossed his. May he rest in peace
