Edward Atkinson Obituary

Edward (Ed) Alden Atkinson passed away on December 18, 2022 at the age of 85 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born on November 24, 1937, in San Jose, Ca. and was a long time resident in Durango, Co. After serving in the military and working in finance, Ed found his passion for contributing to people and devoted over 40 years to facilitating personal, professional and organizational development programs for individuals and teams as a Program Leader and Corporate Consultant. He is remembered fondly by friends, clients and colleagues for his blunt and honest communication, delivered with equal measure of compassion and wit, along with his deep commitment to contribute to the world.

Ed was able to make peace with dying at the end, which gave his family great peace as well. He appreciated the local Parkinson's support group, and the medical team at Mercy Medical Center and Axis Health to smooth the way of this difficult disease.

Ed is survived by his loving family: his spouse of 37 years, Susan, his sons Christian, John Geoffrey, and Michael, and two grandchildren.

I'm sure we've never met, Susan, but my all-too-brief friendship with Ed had a profound effect on me. I was lucky enough to be his colleague along with Craig C in a couple of gigs in Canada. I've never laughed and cried so hard in my life.

Ed, made a positive difference to me and many others. His ability to add the hard truth, along with sincere care and compassion could stop an entire room. He was a good man with a good heart. Thanks Rich
