Dorothy Johnson Obituary

Dorothy Irene "Dottie" Johnson passed away Friday, September 6, 2024, at home, surrounded by family. She was 98 years old. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at Christ The King Lutheran Church. Burial will occur at Greenmount Cemetery.

Dottie was born January 3, 1926, to Hildreth Paul and Esther Cecelia (O'Donnell) Anderson in Pocatello, ID. She grew up in Pocatello. She attended college in Portland, OR, and obtained her Associates Degree. She then moved to Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii, where she was a comptometer and IBM operator. Dottie met the love of her life, Cyrus Wayne Johnson on Waikiki Beach and they were married July 31, 1953 at Makalapa Chapel, Honolulu.

Soon thereafter, they moved to Durango in February of 1955 and have resided here since.

Dottie enjoyed crocheting, spending time at her Electra Lake cabin, off-roading with family, camping and dominating at cribbage. She loved singing in the choir at Christ the King. Most of all, Dottie cherished and loved her large family.

She is survived by her four children: Larry (Mary Austin) Johnson, Sherrie (Ted) Martin, Sandy (Dave) Peterson, and Bob (Janis) Johnson; twenty-six grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; niece and nephew: Richa and Brett Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her husband: C. Wayne Johnson; her parents and her brothers: Hal and Robert Anderson; and friend and companion: Wally Schneider.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Christ the King Lutheran Church.
