Donna Harris Obituary

Donna Lee Harris (Greer, Rea) was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. She died peacefully on July 23 at the age of 79.

Born to Donald and Angelina Harris on January 27, 1943, she was a bright and independent girl who loved racing horses on her family farm in Marvel. She found shoes absurd and famously refused to wear them. In 1960 she married Dick Greer and together they had three sons: Rodger, Marlon, and Paul. Donna was a formidable match for three rowdy boys, and was known to beat them in footraces through the sagebrush. In 1977 she married Bob Rea and had two more kids: Amanda and Benjamin. She raised her children with freedom and humor, and was endlessly supportive of their many endeavors.

Donna loved spending time on her property east of Marvel. She was a voracious reader who enjoyed everything from romance novels to War and Peace. She did crossword puzzles in pen-she had no need of an eraser. She enjoyed playing cards with her beloved mother and aunts, and spoke on the phone with her mother every morning without fail until Angie's death in 2021. Donna was never happier than when surrounded by family: listening to music, telling jokes and stories, and reciting poems.

Donna is survived by her brother Russell Harris (Marvel); sons Rodger Greer (Larkspur), Marlon Greer and Paul Greer (Marvel), Ben Rea (Nashville) and daughter Amanda Rea (Denver), and grandchildren Malia McKinzie (Germany), Daniel Greer (Japan), Jake Greer (Marvel), Becca Greer (Larkspur), and Lael Rogers (Denver) along with five great-grandchildren.
