Donald Haley Obituary

Former longtime Cortez resident Donald G. Haley died Thursday, June 7, 2012, in New Port Richey, Fla. He was 81.

Mr. Haley was born to Joseph and Cynthia Haley on July 7, 1930, in Clearwater, Fla.

In 1950, he married Jean Tracy in Clearwater. The marriage later ended in divorce.

After moving to Colorado in 1953, Mr. Haley lived in Lakewood before moving to Naturita, where he was president of Citizens State Bank.

In the late 1970s, he married Anna Louise Trimble in Naturita.

While there, he was a vice president for the Dolores State Bank before living in Dolores and later Cortez. Mr. Haley lived Cortez for more than 20 years, where he was the president of First National Bank, Cortez.

He served on numerous boards of directors, including the San Miguel Power Co. Mr. Haley was a member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 1789. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and was a "pretty good bowler," his son, Don Haley II said.

He had lived in New Port Richey since 2007.

Mr. Haley was preceded in death by his wife of more than 25 years, Anna Louise Haley.

He is survived by his sons, Don Haley II of Donalsonville, Ga., and Dallas Haley of Cortez; daughter, Britt Haley, of the Denver area; brother, Joe Haley, of Brooksville, Fla.; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2012, at Dobies Funeral Home, 4910 Bartelt Road in Holiday, Fla.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HPH Hospice Foundation, Attn: Donations, 12107 Majestic Blvd., Hudson, FL 34667.
