Diana Meyer Obituary

Former Durango resident Diana Jeanne Meyer died after an 18-month battle with cancer at her home in Craig on Thursday, April 16, 2009. She was 59.

Mrs. Meyer was born to Neil and Gloria (Roberts) Townsend in Durango on Feb. 4, 1950. She was raised here and graduated from Durango High School in 1968.

After high school, she worked in various health fields in Southwest Colorado before moving to Craig in 1984.

In 1986, she married Gary Meyer in Craig. They made their home on Yampa Avenue, where she enjoyed her flower gardens, cooking, baking and her Mickey Mouse collection.

Mrs. Meyer's final job was as the deli manager at the Craig Safeway Inc.

She was a member of the Church of Destiny and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.

Mrs. Meyer is survived by her husband, Gary Meyer of Craig; sons Gabriel Martinez of Denver and Eric Young of Craig; daughter Mariliegh Hale of Grand Junction; and three grandchildren.

Cremation has occurred. A memorial service was held Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at Grant Mortuary.

Parrish Terry officiated. A memorial service will be held in early summer at Greenmount Cemetery in Durango, where burial of her ashes will take place.

Memorial donations may be made to the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurses Association & Hospice; or Moffat County Cancer Society, c/o Grant Mortuary, 621 Yampa Ave., Craig, CO 81625.
