I am so sad to hear of Deons passing. I absolutely adored visiting with her at her dental appointments. She was by far my favorite. She talked about her sons a lot and was always so thoughtful and kind to me. She had a wonderful disposition and never complained. I always wished we could just sit and talk for hours, she was so fun to be around. I aspire to be like her some day, she is a wonderful woman and I will miss our visits greatly.

I met Deon last summer thru my son, who was her gardener. I was in Durango looking for a job and spent many days visiting with her. In the short time that I knew Deon she touched my heart and soul. She was such a positive energetic woman, always wanting to learn about me and my life. Her attitude about life was infectious. I can only hope to live my life in the same way she did. I will miss her terribly. It was a honor to get to know her.

Deon and Clyde shared a love of fun, arts and community. It was a privilege to have know them both.
Deon was a force to be reckoned with and strong, and independent to the end. As a single woman living in the country, she was my inspiration. A model to inspire for. (I too have lost a husband and live alone...and she helped inspire me.)
She helped me on several occasions with fundraisers to help support the arts in this community. A Fundraiser for Durango Friends of the Arts and hosting a Garden Club event (for me) at her own home and gardens.
She was honest, forthright, well spoken, and fun loving. Again, I say, it was an honor to have known her, and she lives on in the spirit of many of us, that she has touched. Sincere sympathies to her family!
