Dean McCoy Obituary

Ignacio resident Dean Oliver McCoy died Friday, Jan. 8, 2009, after a life-long struggle with Torsion dystonia. He was

39.

Born Aug. 3, 1970, in Durango, Mr. McCoy graduated in the top 10 in his class from Ignacio High School in 1988.

His family said he was a member of the National Rifle Association and loved the Dallas Cowboys, NAS-CAR and his eagle

collection.

They said he watched CNN news every morning and was very interested in politics and current events.

“He always knew what was going on in the world around him and had definite opinions on everything. Just ask him, and

you would either get thumbs up or thumbs down," they wrote.

Mr. McCoy is survived by parents Lester and Elaine McCoy; grandmother Cipriana McCoy of Ignacio; grandfather Oliver

Neie of Albuquerque; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, at Hood Mortuary with interment immediately afterward at Ignacio East

Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please adopt a rescue dog or make a donation to the Humane Society.
