Dean Kennedy Obituary

Dean Richard Kennedy passed from this earthly life after a long fight with double pneumonia and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) on December 29, 2023. He was born in Aurora, Illinois on January 25, 1945, to Richard Leroy Kennedy and Alberta Parkhurst and later moved with his family to Los Alamos, NM where he lived until his mid-30's working as a Civil Engineer at the Los Alamos labs. He graduated from UNM with a degree in Civil Engineering. He later realized his dream by retiring early and moving to Alison, Colorado with his wife and four children to build a beautiful home and ranch. He enjoyed fishing at Blanco Canyon and water skiing at Navajo Lake, hunting in the San Juan Mountains and camping with his family in a large white canvas tent. He was a skilled taxidermist and an avid coin collector who loved sharing his knowledge with his family and friends. One of his greatest legacies is that he was a mentor and teacher to all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as so many others through the years. His quiet kindness and thoughtful comments touched so many lives and he will be remembered by many for his stoic leadership.

He was preceded in death by his parents Richard Kennedy and Alberta Kennedy. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years MaryLynne Kennedy, his children Kimberlee Hamilton, Danielle Burns, Matthew Kennedy (Dao) and Corie Bray as well as his bonus daughters Nicole Witowski (Scott) and Melissa Mohammad (Jimmy). He had 12 grandchildren {Kimberlee's} Sierra Bice (Connor) Tait Hamilton, Katera Barlow (Kyson). {Danielle's} Abeth Flemming (Jeron) Miel Diaz, (Kruz) {Matthew's} Bodhi Kennedy. {Corie's} Davey Cooper, Rachel Cooper & Connor Cooper. {Nicole's} Tatiana Lange (Trey), Oliver Pina. {Melissa's} Kyra Mohammad and 4 great grandchildren, Isabella Bice, Emree Bice, Jrue Fleming, and Easton Lange. His brother Brad Kennedy, his two sisters Marjean Kennedy and Carol Kennedy also survive him.
