Dean Furry Obituary

His loss is a loss to all who knew this kind, gentle and happy spirit. He always took the time to really listen, whether as a friend or physician. The smile, the voice and twinkle in his eye will never be forgotten. I am thinking of you, Nancy, and the family....the memories you have will sustain you through this immeasureable loss.

Throughout his life so full in every way was always his love of music. I was privileged to share that with him for the twenty years the Electra Trio played together. I will miss that sonorous cello playing Mendelssohn or Beethoven. I will always miss his musical spirit.

When I was a teenager he did an amazing job operating on my left knee in a time where technology wasn't near as good as it is today.

I remember the very snowy night so many years ago when Dean and Nancy arrived in Durango after their honeymoon in Hawaii. I have many wonderful memories of this exceptional man and his family over the years. My parents had so many fabulous times with Dean and Nancy. We have lost a Durango legend.

A great person. Such a rare soul that can live a life with such grace and dignity. He will be missed.

It was my honor and privilege to have known and worked with this wonderful man. He was an exceptional physician and surgeon. Dean practiced medicine the way it SHOULD be practiced. He was highly respected by his colleagues and co-workers.
Dean possessed an irrepressible spirit! He will not be easily forgotten. My thoughts are with Nancy and the whole family. May your memories comfort and sustain you.

I was so saddened to hear of Dr. Furry's passing. I have great admiration and respect for him and am very grateful to have worked and learned from him in the OR. Oh Clean Dean ... the memory that will be with me forever is the amazing feeling of harmony and happiness in a life's work - an offshoot of sincere mutual respect offered up by a true gentleman! I am just so thankful for our time together - you made me a better caregiver and a better person. I will miss that ever present Twinkle in your eyes! I'm so sorry for your loss. Dr. Furry was one of the nicest doctors I had the pleasure of working with; as an employee at Mercy. He always had a smile on his face and treated everyone with kindness. A true gem. Prayers for you and your family.
