David Wilson Obituary

David George Wilson of Santa Fe, New Mexico, loving father to Jessica Loren Cronin, passed away in early January at his home. He is survived by his father, George, sister, Jane, brother, Dan, son-in-law, Chris, and many dear friends and family in Santa Fe and beyond.

Dave was born on March 2, 1955 in Great Lakes, Illinois to George and Betty Wilson. He grew up in Denver, Colorado and later attended Colorado State University as a mechanical engineering student. It was during this time that he developed a love for the outdoors and a passion for cycling, to which he would later dedicate a good part of his career. In his early working life, he managed and co-owned a bike shop in Fort Collins, Cycle Transport. He would go on to have an outstanding career as a sales rep for Specialized in the Southwest. After a successful career in bike sales, he then worked as an advertising executive for Christie's Great Estates.

Dave's greatest passion was spending time on his mountain and road bikes with friends and his daughter, Jessica. He could often be found scouting out new mountain bike trails in and around Santa Fe, or on a 'quick' lunch ride up to the ski basin. His cycling highlights included riding the classic mountain passes of the Tour de France and Giro de Italia, and meeting up each year with friends and old acquaintances to ride the Iron Horse Classic and the Red River and Santa Fe Centuries. Dave was a mountain biker at heart, but whether it was dirt or pavement, he could almost always be found at the front of the pack, earning him the nickname 'Super Dave' by his cycling buddies.
