Cynthia Lamon Obituary

Cynthia Chandler Lamon died on October 17 in her home in Durango, CO, at 76 years of age. She was born on February 2, 1946, in Nashville, TN. She is survived by her daughter, E. Chandler Strange (Patrick Goddard) of Durango, CO, and son, E. Bruton Strange V (Kristen) of Conway, MA, as well as four grandchildren: Margaret and E. Bruton Strange VI, and Henry and Ella Lee Goddard. She was a beloved grandmother and will be very missed by her family. Cynthia grew up in Nashville, and spent many happy times as a child in Los Angeles. She loved horses and very fast cars, and was an avid rider. She lived up and down the east coast before moving to Colorado, but raised her two children in Annapolis, MD, with her husband the late Edwin Bruton Strange IV, where she also helped to found the Summit School. Professionally she wore many hats; over the years she owned both a cheese shop and a gift store called the Manor House, as well as raised Irish Wolfhounds, peacocks, and chickens. She was gifted with a green thumb, and her rose gardens and landscapes were stunning. She was a talented interior designer. After leaving Annapolis she lived on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and had a small vegetable farm, before living for a few years in Grenada with her departed husband Jack Lamon. She lived in Florida before settling in Colorado. She loved the ocean and animals, and was a very devoted mother and grandmother. Cynthia was known for her incredible sense of style, interior design, delicious food, and gracious hospitality.

Chandler, I am so so sorry for your loss. The love she shared with me over the years for you and your family was extreme. She was always so very proud of you. As Grandma´s we loved sharing pictures of the kids. I am happy that both Jack and Mom got to spend this special time with you and your family over the past four years. When we met (about 25 years ago) we became instant friends and before long they were family Spending great times together holidays, birthdays and many wonderful meals out and home cooked, (yes she was a fabulous cook) We went through hurricanes, moves and major construction projects, ( her talent and foresight was amazing). We had many long standing jokes one was, Jack would find her hidden candy bar stash and he would blame it on me. So anytime the candy was missing it was always fault. I am truly saddened that those times are over, but my memories are still with me. Chandler, you must be broken hearted at this very sad time, but again know how much she loved you and your family.

Cynthia was an amazing woman, beloved mother & grandmother & my best friend for almost 30 years. She was kind, generous, fun & talented in too many ways to list. Her sudden passing has left a void in my life that can never be replaced. She will be forever missed.
